Orange Ginger Banana FosterOrange Ginger Bananas Foster

Ingredients

1/3 cup Orange Ginger Gourmet Butter
2/3 cup dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3 tablespoons Meyers Dark Rum
3 bananas, each one peeled and sliced into 4 sections on a bias
1 pint vanilla bean ice cream

Preparation

  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter.
  • Stir in sugar, orange juice and vanilla.
  • When mixture begins to bubble, place bananas in pan. Add the rum.
  • Cook until bananas are hot, 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Serve at once over vanilla bean ice cream.


You can also ignite the skillet for a more dramatic presentation.

  • To do this, remove the skillet from the heat.
  • Add Bacardi 151 rum in place of the Meyers Dark Rum.
  • Carefully ignite with a long match or long handled lighter.
  • Use a long handled spoon to baste the bananas with the sauce until the flame burns out.
